Welcome to the website for Eramosa Suzuki Strings, with teacher Elayne Ras, Suzuki Violin and Viola. A very experienced and committed teacher, Elayne is one of only 10 Canadians approved as a Violin Teacher Trainer by the Suzuki Association of the Americas. This means that she is also qualified to train violin teachers in how to become a Suzuki teacher.

Described as a warm, friendly, and fun teacher, she is dedicated to the principles of Shinichi Suzuki’s approach to music education which emphasizes the expectation of excellence in music, achieved through nurturing the students to achieve to their highest potentials, while also having fun in the process. According to Suzuki, this then translates to developing excellence of character, or as he said,

It is necessary to be concerned about the importance of educating a really beautiful human spirit.

and

If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart.

Eramosa Suzuki Strings aims to provide high quality Suzuki violin and viola instruction to students of all ages and levels in Rockwood and Guelph. The Suzuki philosophy is based on the belief that “Every Child Can”, which means that students and their parents are accepted on the basis of their willingness to participate, and on their commitment to lessons and to practising, rather than on their parents’ musical experience or by financial status. Everyone who would like to have Suzuki lessons, and be committed to the process, can be accommodated with potential bursary assistance.

Musical ability is not an inborn talent but an ability which can be developed. Any child who is properly trained can develop musical ability just as all children develop the ability to speak their mother tongue. The potential of every child is unlimited.
